🧣 Le Mala : bien plus qu’un simple collier

🧣 The Mala: much more than a simple necklace

Welcome to the sacred world of Mala, a jewel filled with meaning, breath and silence.
You may have already seen it worn around the neck, wrapped around the wrist or placed delicately on an altar... But do you know its origin, its symbolism, and its use?
Sit down, I'll take you to explore the secrets of Mala...

🌿 An ancient and universal origin

The word Mala comes from Sanskrit and literally means "garland" or "string of beads."
This rosary has been used for centuries in the spiritual traditions of India, Tibet, Nepal... but similar objects are found in many cultures (rosaries, komboloi, misbaha...).

🔗 Why 108 beads?

The number 108 is not trivial. It is considered sacred in Hinduism, Buddhism, and yoga.
Some possible mystical explanations:

  • 108 trials to achieve enlightenment,
  • 108 yoga positions,
  • 108 names for certain deities,
  • 1 for unity, 0 for emptiness, 8 for infinity…

There are also Malas of 54 , 27 , or even 21 beads for shorter practices or malas worn daily.

💠 Structure and elements of Mala

A traditional mala includes:

  • 108 beads (or a multiple/divisor),
  • A guru pearl (or guru , often larger),
  • A final braid or pendant (often a pompom, a stone, a talisman, etc.).

At each bead, we recite a mantra or an intention, moving forward finger after finger, without ever crossing the guru bead: we turn the mala over to make another turn in the other direction.

🧘♀️ How to use a Mala?

You can use it for:

  • mantra meditation ( japa ),
  • anchoring or conscious breathing,
  • carry a particular intention or energy according to the stones,
  • or simply as a sacred jewel, symbol of your spiritual path.

🪬 Choose a Mala that suits you

The beads can be made of wood (tulsi, sandalwood, rudraksha, etc.), natural stones, seeds or bones.
Each material vibrates differently. For example:

  • Amethyst for spirituality,
  • Labradorite for protection,
  • Tiger's Eye for strength,
  • Rose quartz for love…

✨ And the malas from L’Atelier de Tabatha?

All my malas are carefully handcrafted with the intention of beauty, symbolic power and connection.
They always respect the sacred number , and can be woven traditionally or mounted on solid thread, depending on their use.

Each model is unique, infused with the energy of stones and slow creation.
You might find an ally for your path, an inner compass, or simply an object of anchorage in your daily life.

🚄 In conclusion…

The Mala is not just a necklace. It is a companion , a sacred thread between you and your inner space.
And if he calls you, maybe it's time to reconnect with your breathing, your intuition... and your magic.
